Children are overfond of toys and nowadays parents spend more money for buying toys for them. This certainly is beneficial for enhancing certain skills in teenagers; however, it isolates them completely from the real world. This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of possessing loads of toys.

On the one hand, toys can be fun and educational. Having a wide variety of toys makes a child happier because it is the only form of entertainment that he enjoys as a kid. In addition to this, toys help to improve the memory skills and creativity of children. With the help of toys, children can learn quickly and they develop the ability of problem solving at a very young age. For example, toys like blocks help kids build their imagination and creativity and also make them understand the various shapes. Thus, owning a number of good toys definitely has a positive impact on children.

On the other hand, spending more time with toys makes children create a fantasy world and they will not want to come out of it. They find it difficult to mingle with real people which makes them socially weak and they grow up as introverts. Furthermore, they fail to value things if there is always a replacement ready at hand. A recent research has shown that when kids have so many toys, they will naturally take less care of them.

In conclusion, having a large number of toys can be advantageous as it helps in boosting the skills of children; however, it also inhibits them from socialising with people.

A few parents believe in buying more toys for their children to play with. This practice has a great influence on the intellectual growth of the child. Some of the effects prove to be beneficial whereas others prove to be deterring.

Children having many toys usually have greater levels of confidence and emotional satisfaction due to various reasons. Firstly, toys help in the development of young inquisitive minds. Consequently, the creative and reasoning skills are boosted. Additionally, the toy market is booming with educational toys for all age-groups of school-going children. These toys help in the improvement of academic performance as their design is based upon the popular learning paradigm “learn with play”.

However, a number of drawbacks are associated with this practice of purchasing more and more toys for children. Firstly, children become more demanding and stubborn. They start believing that the parents are obliged to buy them every new toy in the market. Due to this, parents may end up facing financial distress attributed to the never-ending demands of their children. Secondly, children start cherishing the ownership of the toys rather than using them to learn new skills. Lastly, the toys biome obsolete with the growing age of children. This results in increasing the trash at home and adding up to the pollution upon discarding. Hence it also proves to be hazardous to the environment.

In conclusion, I feel that toys help in the mental growth of the child making them happy and contended. But the purchase of new toys should be done in a restricted way owing to the repercussions upon the mindset of growing children.
