According to many parents, the children should invest more time in reading books instead of watching the television or playing digital games. I totally disagree with this viewpoint. In my opinion, the television and computer games also equip the children with many constructive skills. This essay will discuss my perspective in detail.
Indeed, children are under immense pressure these days to perform better in their academic pursuit. However, by watching the television or playing video games, they can feel relaxed and escape from the stress to score well in their academic examinations. It is scientifically proven that spending some leisure time watching the television or playing computer games improves the overall productivity of a student because it reenergises their mind. Moreover, it plays a significant role in improving their concentration level which is vitally important to do well in studies. Hence, parents should not limit and replace the television watching time with reading books.
Furthermore, the television or computer game is another major source of knowledge if it is utilized in a constructive manner. A student can improve his knowledge by watching the quiz shoes on the television. Besides this, computer games play an important role in improving the motor skills, analytical ability and decision-making capacity of the children. In fact, most of the European countries are encouraging parents to allow their children to watch programmes on the television channel like National Geographic, as it broadcasts shows about environment and technology. The content of a show helps the student to imbibe the knowledge of different environmental issues. Therefore, parents ought not to obstruct their child from watching the television or push them to spend more time with books.
In conclusion, the television and computer games must be treated as another source of knowledge. In my opinion, parents should allow their children to spend some time with these gadgets.
