Band 8 IELTS essay sample

A few nations have limited the number of hours an employee can work by introducing laws. I believe that such laws are helpful in promoting work-life balance and improving the health and living standards of people.

Putting a cap on working hours has enabled employees to find some time for themselves and thus benefitted their health. This leaves an individual with abundant leisure time to spend with family and pursue hobbies. People tend to become money minded and stressed out in countries where such laws are not implemented. Such employees are sometimes exploited employers who overburden them with extra work. Therefore, to keep its citizens stress free and healthy, the government has to introduce stringent laws to cap the number of hours they can work.

In my opinion, when people work for a limited number of hours, they enjoy their life as well as their work. The happiness index rank of a nation improves and there is more prosperity in the country. Moreover, people become morally strong and look for quality life rather than minting money. Employers are also benefited as employees working for fewer hours are happier and generate more output. Hence, such laws turn out to have an affirmative impact on employees as well as employers.

To conclude, laws to limit working hours are introduced to promote the health and living standards of working people. In my opinion /To the best of my knowledge, there are no negative repercussions associated with this development.
