A few nations have limited the number of hours an employee can work by introducing laws. I
reckon that such laws are helpful in promoting work-life balance and improving health and living standards of people.
Putting a cap on working hours has become a way to make people aware about keeping
oneself in a healthy environment. This leaves an individual with abundant leisure time to spend
with family and pursue hobbies. People tend to become money minded and stressed in
countries where such laws are not implemented. Such employees are sometimes exploited by
overburdening them with extra work. Therefore, to keep its citizens stress free and healthy,
stringent laws are introduced to cap the number of hours they can work.
In my opinion, when people work for a limited number of hours they enjoy their life as well as
their work. The rank in the happiness index of a nation improves and there is more prosperity in the country. Moreover, people become morally strong and look for quality life rather than minting money. Employers are also benefited as employees working for lesser hours are happier and generate more output. Hence, such laws turn out to have an affirmative impact on employees as well as employers.
To conclude, laws to limit working hours are introduced to promote healthcare and improve the
living standards of people. As far as I believe, there are no negative repercussions associated
with this development.
