It is often said that taking precautionary measures in dealing with diseases is a better approach than getting treatment after contracting one. Although this adage may be true, not all diseases can be prevented and therefore require treatment in order to be cured. This essay disagrees with this statement and will discuss why sometimes diseases cannot be prevented and hence research is necessary to cure them.
There are a number of diseases that cannot be prevented through precaution such as, measles, polio, chicken pox etc. Moreover, there are diseases which are genetically linked and people who have defective genes will contract these illnesses at some point of time. Therefore, in such cases one has to visit a hospital and get necessary treatment in order to get cured. For instance, Type 1 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease and certain types of cancers are hereditary and they can only be treated through medication and therapy.
Without research, treatment for non preventable diseases will not be possible. In addition to that, there will always be new disease outbreaks due to the evolution of bacteria and viruses. Recently, many people suffered from Ebola fever that led to the death of patients in severe cases. The causative virus also affects the development of fetus in pregnant women. Therefore, we need to actively conduct research and arm ourselves to tackle unknown as well as non preventable diseases.
To conclude, prevention should be practiced as a precaution to avoid getting sick, but this will not help us avoid certain illnesses which require medical intervention. Hence, research is absolutely required to develop vaccines, medicines and medical procedures to deal with genetically linked diseases and non preventable diseases.

There is doubt that cost of medical treatment is on peak and people should follow preventive measures as much as possible rather to cure. I am completely agree with this notion but in some cases treatment is essential.
On the one hand, medical researches and treatment from minor to major diseases have become costly. There are number of reasons behind this hiking. First and foremost reason is that treatment equipment are expensive and thousand of dollars are invested in their inventions and on researchers for researches. Hence, hospitals charge high fee to cover up those expenses. Secondly, consultation fee of doctors is also touching the sky. For instance, Doctors charge minimum 200 to 500 dollars for minor cure and most of the time medicine cost is extra. Thirdly, GST tax on various tests puts extra burden on general public. All these reasons make researches and treatment of diseases costly.
Because of the high medical cost, people should opt preventive measures to nip the disease in the bud. Main benefit of these measures is that they are cost-less. People do not need to spend anything. For example, treatment of obesity is expensive but by prevention people can protect themselves from obesity. They can shatter excess fat easily by changing their life style, eating habits and through regular exercise without any cost. Moreover, Health is wealth and precautions saves time and keep us healthy. But medical treatment is essential for some critical diseases like cardio vascular diseases, cancer and Tuberculosis.
In conclusion, No doubt in some diseases prevention does not work but it can protect people without any cost to a great extent and they can lead a healthy and prosper life.

To what extent do you agree?
These days, every time we eat unhealthy food,we do something wrongly for our health,we are reminded by a saying “Prevention is better than cure.Precaution in health undoubtedly lead to a valuable fitness which means our lives are hardly connected with medicine. Some argue that we should utilize our budget in precautionary procedures rather than in exploration and treatment for diseases because of its skyrocketing amount of expenses. In my opinion,I strongly agree with theirs and I will support my viewpoints in the following paragraphs with examples.
First of all, some certain treatments have their own limitations and they cannot make the person fully recover. For instance,in viruses and bacteria, genes are always copying in DNA replication and there comes another worse one after the original. Therefore,it is a countless cycle and I suppose we don’t have to use too much money on it because we are never perfectly recoverable by any therapy. What’s more,in some operations like transplantation and brain surgeries, most people cannot afford to do them beacause of huge money.Hence, there will be no patients for that cure and people will go the same dead end.By looking at above examples,we can clearly see that no cure is better and we should mainly focus on the prevention as a life insurance.
Another reason why I agree is that precaution brings success to us in some ways.Take an example of Covid first wave in Myanmar. We were told not to leave outside and even if we did,we must have brought masks and hand gels together with us.We,all vigilant citizens obeyed the regulations announced by the Health Department of Myanmar and we could finally control that virus. But for no preparation, this causative virus would have affected the whole state as it happened in U.S.A.In addition, supposed that we got affected, there is no much efficient and effective vaccine in the world.
On the other hand, some people argue that the medicine can cure every damages occuring in their bodies because of the advance of medical technology. They take the advantage of this development,do not care their health and test something toxic to their health such as drinking alcohol. It is their belief that make them converse the motto into “Cure is better than prevention.
In a nutshell, though the cure outweigh the precautionary measures in some places,I advise that we should always hold that proverb because nothing is perfect and the best way we can prevent ourselves from the inevitable injury is prevention in everything.
