Task 1 IELTS report sample

The table illustrates / gives the percentage of young students who studied in four different kinds of secondary school from 2000 to 2009. Overall, it can be seen that, while specialist schools continuously had the lowest proportion of students during the given period, Community schools’ popularity soared consistently over the years, making them the most popular type at the end of the period. To begin with, in 2000, specialist schools and community schools received the same percent of students (12%) each. Even though the attendance of specialist schools remained fairly steady, the popularity / student intake of Community schools had almost tripled by 2005, before it climaxed at 58% in 2009. Regarding the other two types of schools, while grammar schools were the second most popular types of schools in 2000, their attendance / popularity steadily declined from 24% in 2000 to half of this figure in 2009 and they ended up as the second least popular type. In a broadly similar fashion, voluntary-controlled schools experienced a significant downward trend from 52% in 2000 to 20% in 2009.
