The line graph illustrates the percentage of the population aged 65 and above in the US, Sweden and Japan for a period of 100 years. Overall, all the three countries experienced variations in the rate of population who aged 65 years and more between the years 1940 and 2040. Japan had only 5% of men and women who were aged 65 years and above in the year 1940. After a slight fall, the population of elderly people remained stable for next 20 years from 1960 to 1980 at 3%. Thereafter, the population faced a slight increase till 2000. Later, Japan is expected to experience a steep incline in the percentage of residents aged 65 years and over reaching in the percentage at 2% IN 2040. On the other hand, USA and Sweden experienced similar fluctuations from the years 1940 to 2000. However, in the year 2000, Sweden went on to experience an increase and is further expected to increase and reach at 25% in the year 2040.While, USA was stationary at almost 15% from 1960 to 1980 it is anticipated to experience a sudden surge reaching at 23% in the year 2040.
