Band 6.5 IELTS report sample

The data illustrates the shares of people from cities and villages who participated in four leisure activities in 1990 and 2010. Overall, all four activities were more popular in rural areas in 1990, whereas only animated play, playing and photography showed the same trend in 2010, however, proportion of people in both areas showed similar interest in reading.

It is clear that people living in the rural areas were extremely interested in all these pastime activities than urban settlers in 1990. By far, reading was the most dominated activity which was 10 per cent high. On the other hand, although most people in rural were interested in playing compared to people in the cities, this activity saw the least difference of five per cent.

In 2010, the popularity of all activities except reading increased in rural areas. It can be noted that the popularity of playing showed the highest difference in both groups because the proportion of people settled in urban areas showed less interest in 2010 (14 per cent) than twenty years ago (21 per cent). When it comes to other activities, despite seven per cent difference photography gained popularity from 7 per cent in 1990 to 14 per cent in 2010 among city dwellers and 14 per cent in 1990 to 24 percent in 2010 among rural population. Finally, the  difference between the interest for reading among both sets of people was same in 2010.
