Following a diet at this day and age has become extremely popular. Many people are of the opinion that if they only follow certain diets and eliminate exercise from their daily routine they will lose weight. Realistically speaking, this is not the case. Many fitness and medical experts have time and again reiterated the importance of following a well-balanced diet along with being active. Following this regime will help people to not only lose weight, but also lead a healthier lifestyle.

Over a period time weight-loss and body image has become one of the most talked about things across mediums. There are numerous pieces of information that is readily available on the internet, social media and as well as traditional media. However, not every bit of information is factual or accurate. Many articles or so-called fitness influencers promote diets that are trending at that point and do not stress on physical exercise. Apart from being misguided with the abundance of information available, there are numerous reasons why people do not exercise. One of the key reasons is the lack of time and exhausation. Many people are not able to give themselves adequate time to exercise. This is mainly due to a non-existent work-life balance. Moreover, with the advent of technology, people have become increasingly lethargic.  Earlier people ventured out to run errands such as grocery shopping, picking up food, dropping off parcels etc. However, this has changed, particularly after covid. There are a sheer number of delivery services that have cropped up that send almost everything to one’s door step.  Travelling, too has reduced drastically, because of the recently adopted “work-from-home” culture. People spend most of their time at home without moving for hours.

On the flipside, there are certain sects of people who have realised the importance of not only following a wholesome diet but also dedicated fitness regime which includes being active. Experts, groups of people as well as companies are taking steps to encourage others to be physically and mentally healthy. Companies and communities can play a huge role in advocating this message. They can not only contsruct gyms in the offices and buildings, but also hold group fitness classes such as yoga, zumba, cyling and more. Additionally holding specific days wherein the entire community or street participates will also encourge people come and exercise. This can also be tied in with incentivising the masses whenever they reach a set goal.

To conclude, it is vital to create awareness on how one can lead a healthy lifestyle. Promoting the benefits of having a wholesome diet and being active is key to encouraging people to lead better lifestyles.
