The main objective of a museums and art galleries is to showcase materials which reflect information of the past and spread culture. Some people assert that only domestic history and culture show be on display instead of foreign work. I do not agree, in my opinion there should be amalgamation of local and international works on showcase for general public. In the following paragraphs, I shall put my arguments to support my opinion.
My first argument in support of displaying of both local and international artefacts is overall awareness. In this modern world it is important for people to be aware about not just their own history but also history of other nations. This increases knowledge of people, thus, they can learn from mistakes or strengths of multiple histories.
Furthermore, when international artwork is placed in an art state gallery it can provide inspiration to local artists. They can compare each other’s work, and may get a new idea which might sprout further creativity. What is more, local school children are exposed to traditional culture as well as global culture enhancing understanding of people all around the world. Additionally, museums which display international work are more popular among locals, and generate more revenue.
Lastly, learning about history and culture of other places on earth, it ought to generate curiosity in local people, and they would want to travel to those places to have a first-hand experience about culture and food. After returning to homeland, people will become worldlier.
In conclusion, it is beneficial for local people to have an insight about history and culture of different places. I, therefore, agree that authority should focus on both their own country as well as other nation works in museum and art galleries.
