The booming population in urban areas has become a pressing matter around the world as it results in several environmental issues. While various factors are responsible for the above situation, certain measures could be taken to improve it.
Overpopulation in megalopolises is a result of two major causes. First, many suburbanites move to the business district centers in order to seek employment. Compared to the countryside, urban regions offer plenty of opportunities from low to high-paid jobs, since they are usually the trading hubs, business centers, and tourist attractions of the countries. Second, some people resettle in the cosmopolitan areas due to the modern lifestyle. To illustrate, living in the capital allows individuals to enjoy all sorts of entertainment all night long, lightning-fast transportation, broadband internet coverage, and access healthcare quickly.
Turning to possible solutions to the above phenomenon, the government could expand the urbanized areas by establishing satellite towns in order to decongest the population. At the same time, it is a good idea to improve the transportation infrastructures from the city centre to the outskirts so that it is convenient for the residents to commute between these places. As a result, the citizens will be more convinced to move out of the populous city. Another way forward is for the government to introduce policies that encourage the development of businesses in remote regions. This will provide sustainable livelihood for the local people and hence discourage them from decamping.
In conclusion, several reasons such as employment and modern life have attracted people residing in the cities. This phenomenon can be addressed by getting the government involved.
