Band 8 IELTS essay sample
The functioning of businesses has changed drastically over the past few years and so does the recruitment process. Some believe that the best approach is interviewing the potential employees while others have arguments against this method or practice. In my opinion, job interviews along with initial training are the most effective methods.
Generally, the recruiters hire the candidates by interviewing them about their personal and professional life. This helps them to create a first impression about the applicant. Also, this method gives the employers a great opportunity to test the knowledge and problem solving skills of the future employees. However, this approach is often considered as an unreliable one due to the fact that the competencies of a person cannot be evaluated in one meeting. Moreover, it sometimes leads to biased decisions. For example, it is commonly seen that interviewers are more inclined towards candidates that have the same opinion as them and may even reject other skilled interviewees.
On the other side, there are also other approaches that a human resource department may consider while selecting employees. This includes initial training and performance evaluation before hiring an applicant. This will not only enable the organisation to evaluate the conceptual and technical skills but also help the prospective employee to understand their culture and work environment. For instance, most behavioural science organisations train and test their applicants to evaluate their capabilities.
Thus, there are numerous approaches to choose the best match for the job position. I believe that rather than just interviewing the individual, a recruiter should always employ methods that will also examine the candidate’s compatibility with the organisation by conducting performance evaluation tests.
Research indicates that the characteristics we are born with have much more influence on our personality and development than any experiences we may have in our life. Which do you consider to be the major influence?
Answer:-
[8/1, 8:50 AM] Kiran Patel: There has been always debate about how people learn and develop themselves. One recent study illustrates that people born with some innate characteristics which affect on their personality and development rather than they gain experiences in life, while I disagree with this notion as experiences have major influences on people’s lives.
[8/1, 8:57 AM] Kiran Patel: To embark on it, gaining experiences is a way to learn different things for people. First and foremost, we can learn anything by experiences. In other words, if people want to know about different cultures and traditions, then people will learn it by exploring various regions and understanding of their customs; therefore, having experiences of cultures, people would become more knowledgeable and intelligent. Another is, experiences teach us about many things how to do and what to do. For instance, if a person wants to learn about driving, then he can learn it by practicing and experiences. Hence, experiences help us in learning various skills.
[8/1, 9:05 AM] Kiran Patel: Further more, people’s perceptions and visions are related to experiences which they had in the past time. What I mean, most of people have a stage fear. However, after practicing and acquiring experiences, people will become great speakers as well. Next, we may gain self confidence and interest by our experiences. Last but not least, it can make people more successful. For example, Jack ma is the richest man in China. He failed many times in school and had no innate knowledge, but he has become the wealthiest man of China. Thus, in life people’s personality and development depend on experiences that they gained.
[8/1, 9:07 AM] Kiran Patel: In conclusion, although inborn characteristics have some impacts on people’s personality, effects of experiences are far better than it . Since we want to become successful in life, we need to utilise our experiences in a better way.
This seems band 6.5 to me.
