In the contemporary era, the majority of people are suffering from various diseases due to their unhealthy lifestyle. Some argue that their treatment is beyond the realm of modern medicines; therefore, traditional medicines should be brought back. I partly agree with this view. While I accept that traditional medicines could be largely effective, ignoring the power of current medicines is not the practical solution either.

First of all, modern treatments have a come a long way. It has undoubtedly made their spectacular contributions in the medical science, thus helping patients to a great extent. Early diagnosis of the chronic diseases such as cancer, eradication of certain ailments like polio and small pox from various countries are some of the major achievements of modern medicines which are irrefutable. Nonetheless, existing issues like cardiac arrest, diabetes and obesity are still far from being treated completely. Thus, people tend to resort to ancestral techniques to find their remedies.

On the contrary, traditional medicines are gaining ground across the globe due to their assurance of treating the modern health problems such as obesity and hypertension. For instance, Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Acupuncture claim to have zero side-effects and desired outcomes on the well-being of the patients. However, a lack of approval from the authorised international medical body such as Worth Health Organization raises doubts about their authenticity and prevents people to use them to treat their medical problems.

In my view, a blend of both would be a pragmatic approach to this problem. For the diseases requiring immediate attention, modern medicine would do wonders, whereas the maladies that could be addressed at a relatively lower pace could be treated use traditional interventions.

To sum up, people are required to watch out their diets and exercise as much as they can so that this contemporary lifestyle do not take a toll on their health. If it does, then one should make the analytical choice of the efficient medicinal treatment.
