People are opting to move to cities to have a good lifestyle; however, there are several challenges one has to face in these cities. Expensive accommodation is one of the major issues and the addition of traffic congestion worsens the difficulties. Governments can play an important role in eradicating these issues by promoting public transport to reduce traffic and by providing rental subsidies to deserving residents.

Residing in a city can be challenging, especially when one migrates from outside. The majority of migrants face issues related to accommodation affordability as they are unable to afford high rental properties/homes. In addition to this, traffic congestion in big cities can be problematic. This leads to loss of precious time and affects their work-life balance. For example, highways in major cities are blocked most of the time due to heavy traffic and this negatively affects people’s lifestyles.

To come up with solutions to fix such issues, the government has to step in and take responsibility for the current scenario. Promoting public transport is certainly a good idea. The government also needs to build better roads and create more green areas to purify urban air. Pollution is a big problem in cities. The government can solve housing crisis to a great extent by bringing more area under housing development. It could even consider building low budget homes for poor people.

In conclusion, the major problems faced by people living in urban areas are traffic congestion, pollution and lack of affordable housing. The government can improve the situation by promoting public transport, widening roads, creating more green spaces and building affordable homes.
