Technology is a boon that has made our lives better. While some people claim that advanced communication tools have brought people closer, others argue that they have made the world similar by destroying cultural identities and differences. This essay will discuss why modern technology is destroying cultural differences.

Technology has always been a very crucial part of the human development. It helps us to evolve as human beings. Modern technology plays a crucial / important role in the development of human societies. Advancement of technology is a necessity for the overall development of our society. Technology makes it possible for us to interact with each other, without leaving our place. For example, because of modern technology, children who do not have proper school facilities in their village can now get education online through virtual classrooms. Technology helps in bridging the gap that human ability cannot do.

There are also some disadvantages to technological advancement. For example, it decreases human effort, which in turn makes us lazier. One of the problems with modern technology is that it is bringing in more westernization, because of which core cultural values are lost. More and more western clothes, food habits and lifestyle are being adopted because of this. For example, there is a perception that people who stick to their culture and tradition and do not follow the modern and western culture are old-fashioned / uneducated. Though technology has far more benefits, the demerits cannot be ignored.

In short, technology has certainly brought us closer. At the same time, it has helped in destroying cultural differences as well. In my opinion, the more we are dependent on technology the more we are losing ourselves. Technology is a tool and not a replacement for human effort.
