Advancements in technology undoubtedly brought people closer virtually, whilst heavily impacting their social life. Spending hours on end in front of their machines made them lose interest in their own surroundings. I concur with the point of view that nowadays human beings barely know the people living around them. I shall elaborate on these views and discuss a few other aspects of this topic in the forthcoming paragraphs.
My views are strengthened by a few experiences in my personal life. For instance, my neighbors who live across the street recently moved in. Despite my attempts to break the ice, they never have the time to get acquainted with us, due to their busy work schedule. Moreover, with the advent of social media, most people, especially youngsters, prefer connecting with their friends and relatives online rather than meeting them in person. In addition to this, immigrants who do not have the same mother tongue as native speakers find it difficult to communicate.
In order to resolve this, mankind needs to make an effort to familiarize themselves with their environment. Community meetings should be conducted to introduce each other. Neighbors should gather around during festivals or occasions to celebrate together. People belonging to different cultures should be welcomed and looked after by the locals. Social gatherings can be held to solve the problems in the neighborhood. Finally, individuals should visit the neighbors during their free time and care for each other in times of trouble.
In conclusion, people no longer maintain friendly relations with their neighbours because they are more interested in online relationships due to their busy lifestyle. Conducting more social gatherings and encouraging people to actively engage themselves in community work will help resolve this issue.
