Despite the prevalence of medical issues due to the lack of exercise, many people are unable to add / incorporate workouts into their busy schedules. This essay will discuss the reasons why people who go to offices are unable to get the required amount of physical activity. This essay will also discuss how introducing small changes to our lifestyles can help solve this issue.
It is generally believed that in order to get ahead in a competitive work environment, one needs to put in extra hours. Longer working hours result in a poor work-life balance. To exemplify, in a bid to get high-paying promotions, young analysts at investment banks are seen working sixteen hours a day on average. Furthermore, due to the increasing cost of housing in urban areas, many people live in the suburbs and spend two or more hours a day for their commute. This leaves them with no time or energy to work out and consequently, they live a sedentary life.
Nevertheless, we can take small steps to overcome this hurdle. One can start by adding some form of exercise while travelling to work. For instance, the practice of cycling to office is becoming popular in many parts of the world. Moreover, at work we can try to take the staircase wherever possible and add frequent breaks to our sedentary lifestyles. As a result, we can transform some parts of our daily schedules without compromising on / sacrificing our efficiency at work.
In conclusion, many people are suffering from illnesses due to the lack of sufficient exercise. This essay discussed the reasons for this problem / predicament. This essay also discussed that by changing the way we travel to work or move within the office space, we can bring about a big transformation and come closer to achieving our fitness goals.
