A large number of criminals who serve their first prison sentence leave prison only to reoffend. This is mainly because of the lack of rehabilitation and difficulty finding regular employment once released. There are a number of solutions which should be implemented to deal with criminals who reoffend.

Firstly, the reason for most first-time offenders to commit crimes again, once they have been released from prison, is the lack of rehabilitation whilst in prison. In other words, offenders are not given a chance to retrain and learn new skills for their future or develop a deeper understanding of correct moral behavior. Instead, they mix with other criminals which only strengthens their criminal intentions. Secondly, repeat offending is also owing to the difficulty in finding employment after being released. As a result, many of them struggle financially and this forces them to go back to crime regardless of the consequences.

There are two effective solutions to the problem of repeat offenders. One way to tackle this is to ensure that all criminals entering prison are given the chance to acquire useful skills which will hopefully ensure them a job after they have served their sentence. By doing this, they can get integrated back into the society and also find some means to support themselves financially.

Another method of dealing with criminals who reoffend is to have more supervision and checks in place when they are back in society. This solution would hopefully prevent them from taking any chances and deter them from reoffending because they are being watched closely.

In conclusion, providing vocational training in jail and monitoring their activities once they are out of prison are effective ways to deal with this issue. If governments implemented these solutions, crime figures would soon drop.

An overwhelming number of ex-convicts who re-enter the society after their first punishment contemplate more crimes. Although there are many reasons for convicts committing crime again, there are several solutions to deal with this problem.

The main reason for people getting encouraged to commit the crime again is because of the social exclusion, which makes them hard to live in the world outside the bars. Therefore, it affects an offender’s mental well-being and they might commit heinous crimes. Another reason for criminal behavior is due to the lack of rehabilitation after entering society. In other words, when criminals do not get job, they commit crime again to pay for their bills and basic needs. Finally, serving long periods of incarceration would develop criminal mindset in people. Hence, criminals commit crime not only because of other people’s attitude towards them but also due to their anti-social behavior.

There are various keys to solving the issue of offenders re-committing the crime. Firstly, government ought to introduce rehabilitation program to convicts coming back after their first punishment. If a person can find a way of living, it can reduce his tendency to commit crime again. Secondly, the state should introduce counselling program to shun criminal and anti-social behavior in criminals. For example, when offenders receives good counselling before getting released from prison, they get necessary social skills to interact with people in society.

To conclude, isolation from the society, lack of rehabilitation and criminal mindset are the main reasons for people committing the crime again. Thus, if government ensures re-socialisation and rehabilitation of ex-convicts, crime rate could be considerably reduced.
