Band 7.5 IELTS essay sample

Museums and historical monuments help us to connect with the past. While many foreign tourists visit these places to know about the culture of that area, local people rarely visit them. The main problem is the lack of promotion and maintenance of these historical sites. However, if the government takes proper action, the popularity of historical places can be increased among the locals.

The tourists visit the historical sites and museums of other places because they are curious to know about the ethnic origin of those places. However, these historical places are losing their importance among locals due to the lack of interest in exploring them. In other words, they know about their indigenous cultures from their ancestors. Besides, there are many cultural books and online forums, which provide abundant information about their local history. Hence, these people lose their interest in going to these historical sites, especially if they are in dilapidated conditions.

However, the situation can be improved by following a few simple steps. First, the government should advertise the value of the museums and historical places through the local satellite channels. Additionally, more archeological artifacts should be kept and promoted in different media to entice the native people. Second, the government should utilize some of the funds for refurbishing historical places and maintaining the museums. These methods can certainly build curiosity among these people up to some extent.

To recapitulate, few local people are visiting heritage sites and museums because the government does not promote them among the locals. Nevertheless, this situation is still not out of hand and the interest of the native people can be developed through various promotional techniques and appropriate maintenance.

Question: Some people think that it is good for younger people to make their own decisions. Others feel that these decisions should be make with the help of a parent
Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
Every individual, once he steps into adolescence, has to go through some decision-making process at many points in his life. At times these decisions have to be taken by their caregivers to ensure their well-being, however many times these young ones themselves are responsible for their decisions. While some people argue that the latter is a much better option for teenagers, others are of an opinion that parents should be involved in their decisions.
It is often believed that every person, be it an adult or a young person, should be capable enough to decide for themselves. Young individuals should be taught to carry out a decision without getting anyone involved. First of all, it will ensure better growth and make these individuals independent. For example, if a teenager has to decide the subjects to study in high school, he is likely to look for his interests and career opportunities. The final decision of the selection of the subjects will be his own choice with no one to be blamed for his wrong choice. Furthermore, a decision will either prove fruitful to an individual or he is likely to bear its consequences. In either case, it will teach the individual a lesson, thereby allowing him to differentiate between right and wrong perspectives of a situation. Thus owning own decisions is considered a wise choice for young people.
On the other hand, it is thought that parental guidance is necessary for teenagers in making a decision. Not involving the parents may cause the young individual to make a wrong decision. Occasionally these wrong decisions put these individuals in some troublesome situation. For example, if a young person opts for a school on his own that is notorious for illegal activities, that teenager is likely to get involved in smoking or other deviant behaviors. Thus teenagers should make a decision under the supervision of their parents.
In my opinion, parents should assist their children when are up to some decision because teenagers are less aware of the related consequences. They should be capable of making a decision but not without their parents’ advice.
