While some argue that the onus of training and research lies with the businesses, others believe that it is with the individual. In my opinion, businesses should pay for the staff training and research.
Businesses can reap immense benefits by imparting relevant training to the staff. As the technology is changing at a greater pace, it is imperative to train the workforce. This will not only upskill employees but also extends business advantage to the organization. The company can market those skills and can bring in more projects. The return on investment will be huge as compared to the spending. Moreover, the workforce can be future ready as well. They can utilize those skills for themselves and for the organization. For instance, most of the businesses are working with outdated technology due to the lack of skills upgradation as per a report published in the Hindu newspaper.
However, others believe that an individual should bear the responsibility as they have to build their future on their own. If the organization is not playing any role in imparting skills, employees can learn on their own as they have to be independent in skills learning. By this, they can shape up their careers and can get well-paid jobs. Furthermore, their professional success graph will move on an upward trajectory and they can achieve growth in a short span of time. For example, around 60 percent of the workforce learn independently and the percentage is growing with each passing day as per an article in the financial times newspaper.
To conclude, companies can play a proactive role in imparting training as the outcomes are lucrative. This way both the organization and the staff can benefit in the long run.
