Band 8 IELTS essay sample
In today’s era of globalization, similar products are easily available around the globe. Some people support the trend of import and export whereas others reckon it as a negative practice. This essay will further discuss both the pros and cons of this viewpoint and provide my opinion in the end.
To commence with, it has become convenient for buyers to buy products of various brands around the globe. To expound, due to the increase in international trade big brands can be easily purchased by people without much effort / difficulty. For example, an article published by the Times of India mentioned that the Indian community can easily settle anywhere around the world as Indian goods and products are available in foreign stores and on commercial websites. Hence the availability of similar products is advantageous for such people.
On the other hand, the availability of the same products also means that there is no diversity in products and designs. As a result, tourists will not prefer to purchase. Another issue is that people are losing touch with their native culture and designs. For example, now, men wear the same shirts and trousers all over the world. Their ethnic costumes are disappearing. This not only destroys cultural practices and values but also affects the livelihoods of traditional craftsmen.
To conclude, although the easy accessibility of products has made life easy for people, this is a negative development as well. In my opinion, international products should be available everywhere but at the same time local products should not be allowed to disappear from the market.
