Many conglomerates these days generally sponsor sports events to promote their products. While some believe that it is beneficial for the sports as it helps the games to flourish more, others hold the opinion that the involvement of large corporates has deteriorating effect on the games. Personally, I accord with the former view as these organisations provide financial stability and much bigger platform for the players to display their talent.
Multinational companies sponsoring domestic and international sports events benefit both sportsmen and games in manifold ways. First, these organisations obviate the burden of finances needed to organise such big sports events; therefore, authorities can focus on building adequate infrastructure rather than worrying about arranging finances to organize the events. For instance, corporates playing an active role in the Indian cricket have uplifted the levels of cricket in India providing cricketers with state-of-the- art infrastructure.
On the flipside, there are those who have expressed apprehensions over the excessive participation of private companies in the world of sports. They fear that the players will focus more on becoming the brand ambassadors of organisations and hence they will not give their hundred percent to the game. However, I believe that these corporations usually take the services of the best players to advertise their products and in return give players a hefty paycheque. Because of this, sportsmen put in tremendous effort to be on the top of the charts and this opportunity becomes a driving force for them to work harder and harder.
In conclusion, I firmly reiterate that although most private organisations have only business in their mind, the financial stability they provide to the players and the platforms they render to the sports events have increased the popularity of games all over the world.
