Although it is a widely known fact that tens of thousands of people die of starvation, many people still waste food. Perhaps offers on food ordering app deceit customers to order more, but right initiatives from the government in collaboration with non-governmental organizations can curtail this to larger extent.
Predominantly there are two main reasons for this wastage. Firstly, tempting discounts on online food ordering lure many individuals to order more than what is required. These restaurants post visually appealing images to attract customers and these food delivery apps deliver food to door-steps at the click of a button. Secondly, there is a dramatic increase in the number of big fat weddings organized by celebrities and rich people wherein they show off their wealth by serving exotic dishes that cater to the taste of every guest. Eventually these extravagant celebrations lead to excess amount of food.
However, these issues can be resolved by taking simple and cognitive decisions such as having alliance with orphanages, shelter homes and party halls. Thus the excess food can be used to serve the underprivileged and does not end up in trash bins. By this way even death due to hunger and malnutrition can be decreased significantly. Another solution is to sensitize people about the plight of starving children. When people realize that the food that they waste could be used to feed needy children, they will automatically want to find a way to avoid its wastage.
To conclude, big fat weddings and other celebrations that lead to the cooking of more food than necessary is the main cause of food wastage. However, by sensitizing people about the need to donate food and encouraging party organizers to collaborate with charitable organizations excess food can be used to feed the poor and the needy.
