Band 7.5 IELTS essay sample
It is generally believed that living far away from home is more beneficial for college students than staying with their parents. I agree with this practice to a great extent as it has many merits which will be explicated at length in this essay.
The first and foremost benefit of living far away from home is that students learn to live independently. To elaborate, when someone lives alone, they learn to become responsible for their actions and take independent decisions.
Therefore, these circumstances make students independent, which is beneficial for their whole life. Secondly, students learn many traits while living far away from their parents. To be specific, if students live with friends, they will develop many skills such as leadership, teamwork and empathy. An article published in the Times claim that students who live alone develop more skills than scholars who stay with their parents. Therefore, this example clearly depicts that living alone is advantageous for students as they learn many things which they might not be able to learn while living with their parents.
On the contrary, there are some demerits too. First of all, sometimes students get distracted from their original path. In other words, due to the absence of parents, some scholars get involved in bad company / engage themselves in bad company. As a result, they do not focus on study properly. Therefore, they fail to perform well in their studies. Consequently, their grades suffer and they may fail to build a successful career.
To conclude, living away from home is beneficial for students as long as they stay focused on their academic goals as this arrangement teaches them valuable life lessons.
