There is a huge difference in the remunerations of people holding senior management positions and their subordinates / juniors. Some people consider this pay gap as a positive thing and I completely agree with their viewpoint. This essay with elaborate on the reasons behind my standpoint.
To commence with, this pay disparity acts as a motivation to other workers in the organization. This motivation makes an employee work harder to reach top management positions. If every employee in the company at all levels is paid equally, then nobody will be putting extra efforts and the key players won’t get recognized. To illustrate, if a person wants to earn as much as his boss/director he knows what level he has to reach to get that kind of salary.
Furthermore, top managers are the decision-makers who run the organization. They are always on the lookout for new ideas and implementing those ideas so that the company earns profits. They take the ownership of any work-related challenges and the responsibility for their actions. They are even at the higher risk of getting fired if anything goes wrong. When they are more answerable to clients and other employees, they have the complete right to earn more than other peers. Moreover, the skills required to take decisions are earned with several years of experience and/or a management degree, both of which are a result of constant perseverance and involve both time and money. Hence, it is the responsibility of the company to pay them accordingly.
To recapitulate, the differences in the salaries / remunerations of senior managers and other employees act as an encouragement to the juniors / entry level employees in the company. Since they take the decisions driving the company, their higher remuneration is fully justified.
