The first map illustrates the current look of Islip’s town centre, and the second map shows the developments that are proposed for its future. Overall, a comparison of the 2 maps shows that there will be a significant development in the town centre of Islip in the future. While shops, main road, housing, park, and school will continue to remain, a dual carriageway, a shopping centre, a bus station, and 2 new housing area are some of the new structures that are planned. As the first map shows, there is a main road that runs from the west end to the east end of the town centre in its norther part. Another road from the main road provides access to the school in the town centre. Moreover, there is a countryside north of the main road. In the future, the most noticeable change will be the replacement of this countryside by a dual carriage way that will run around Islip’s town centre. However, the shops and the residential area that are there in the first map will continue to remain in the new plan. It is clear from the second map, that the main road, which is inside the dual carriageway, will become a pedestrian walk. Further developments are, a bus station, a shopping centre, a car park, and a new housing area will be built North of the pedestrian walk. An additional new housing area to the west of the park is also proposed in the new development.
