Nowadays, businesses focus on promoting their product as something new and improved. I believe this is a negative development and I would like to prove my stance through this essay
Some companies believe that the profits earned from a product are dependent on the way it is advertised. Although the product has not changed much in its appearance or performance, these companies insist that their product is new in some way or the other and release the same product with a different model name and for a higher price .This eventually increases the turnover of a company bringing in more profits for the company. In my opinion, this is a negative development from the point of view of the customer as they are paying a higher price for a product that is only marginally better. For example, a new model of the iPhone is released every September and very minute changes are made in the older model.
These companies lay more emphasis on advertising the new aspects incorporated in this model and lure customers to buy the most recent model. In the recent times , the trend is to possess the newest model of any product and this makes people spend money unnecessarily. However, some customers look for something new in the products and advertising the new aspects of the product may help the customer with their purchase.
In conclusion, advertising a product with more emphasis on the new aspects may be beneficial to some customers but I am of the opinion that it is a negative development as most customers end up spending a higher amount of money for the same product .
