Children need to be fed with positivity and the immense possibility of what they can achieve. Hence, it is a usual practice to see youngsters being told that hard work helps them attain success in life. However, there are both advantages and disadvantages associated with this practice.
Firstly, it is said that it will instill positive thinking which could have immense impact on the future of the child. This personal attribute is something that is well appreciated in the world as it is often said that “conquering the mind is half the battle won”. Secondly, it also helps nurture self-confidence in a child which is a crucial factor for attaining success. Anyone who approaches life with confidence is more likely to achieve success than those who doubt themselves. Finally, self-belief and confidence have the power to overcome difficulties. It is valued when someone wins despite odds.
On the other hand, there are also disadvantages to putting so much emphasis on hard work. No matter what people say, the truth is that hard work alone will not help you achieve success in life. Success depends on lots of factors including hard work. Hard work alone is not sufficient. No matter how hard you work, if the surrounding environment is not conducive to growth, you cannot achieve much success. Hence, while it is a good idea to teach children that hard work brings success, it is also important to make them aware of the fact that success can also depend on a lot of other factors. Otherwise, if children fail to achieve success despite working hard, they will arrive at the conclusion that they are good for nothing. This has detrimental consequences for their future. Hence, personally, I believe that children should be taught to have realistic expectations. There is no harm in dreaming big but one should never lose sight of the ground reality.
In conclusion, it is evident that hard work does play an important role in the success of a young person. However, giving too much importance to it can make children stressed out.
