Novels and television dramas are a reflection of the society in general. What is shown in dramas is similar to what actually happens in our society. In most of the countries today, crime novels and TV dramas related to crime are becoming common and, individuals are adoring these types of shows and books. In my opinion, this is not a positive development for the society as dramas and books can be an effective medium to sway the mind-set of the people.

TV shows and books are a great source of entertainment and the favourite pastime of general public. In recent times series and books related to crime are gaining more and more popularity.
The primary reason for this is that they involve such stories or characters which influence the audience. Moreover, people start relating their life to this type of entertainments. Crime novels and books involve nudity, violence and robbery which people think will refresh them after a long day at work.

However, crime related series or books contain content which is strictly targeted at a selected audience. This type of shows cannot be watched with the entire family. Also, some people may get inspired by such shows and enact the same in their life. Unfortunately, this can have disastrous consequences for them and the society.

To conclude, production houses or writers should create such type of stories which have a beneficial effect on the society. They need to understand that their work influences the masses and hence they should produce stories and movies which have a reformatory effect on the society.

Crime fiction and television series are garnering worldwide popularity. People are hooked to crime content because they have an element of surprise and twist; however, I feel that crime fiction and TV drama disturb the mind and should be avoided.

Books and television series of the crime genre have become an addictive choice for the masses. Entertainment providers or book authors ensure that they fill their content with surprises, speed action, and unexpected twists in the story. This keeps the audience engaged and wanting for the next episode of the series or the next book. Also, deep down the entertainment industry understands the psychology of human mind which always seeks novelty / suspense. For example, the Game of Throne series has become very popular amongst old and young because of its strong characters and unexpected twists in the plot.

This popularity of crime fiction, in my opinion, is detrimental to the readers or audience. People spend endless hours consuming crime content through reading or watching series, but in the end their mind is left with disturbing images, and an addiction to dopamine rush that this content brings. Especially for kids it is very very harmful content which can lead to wrong choices early in life. To illustrate, a study published by Stanford psychological department states that because of crime books and TV content kids are exposed to at least 180 murder scenes by the age of sixteen.

In conclusion, although the crime books and TV episodes are gaining huge entertainment popularity in recent times, I think this content should be avoided as much as possible and children must certainly stay away from it.

Humans are always attracted to the unknown. Crime novels and TV crime dramas combine the elements of suspense and thrill to satiate exactly that. Crime novels have been around for a long time with authors like Agatha Christie and Perry Mason. Tv crime dramas, however, have gained popularity only recently.

In my opinion, the genre of crime, be they crime novels or TV shows, create an atmosphere of intrigue. This concept is also known as a whodunit. The primary objective here it to keep one’s audience glued to either the book or the television screen. I become increasingly curious when the storylines present red herrings. This is another tactic to keep the audience engaged. Hence, when the culprit is ultimately caught and the reader or the viewer managed to predict it accurately, the sense of satisfaction is exhilarating. And this unpredictability in the storylines have played a crucial role in making crime dramas and novels an all time favourite.

Another reason for their popularity is the guaranteed delivery of justice. In today’s world criminal proceedings are excruciatingly slow and the chances of getting justice in the end are rather slim.  Hence, when the crime dramas or books ultimately provide justice to its wronged characters, it gives its audience a sense of fulfilment which they do not receive in the real world. I personally enjoy the genre of crime irrespective of the format it is available in. The processes involved in solving a crime are unknown to most people. Hence, these books and television series provide the much needed insight although they may not be accurate. I also think the books and TV dramas of this nature can be a good source of knowledge. However, there are very few good quality authors and writers of TV dramas. If this aspect can be taken care of, then the genre of crime can be the most superior of all genres.

To conclude, crime shows and books are popular because they shock, thrill and educate the audience. Personally, I enjoy crime fiction because it offers me good insight into the processes involved in solving a crime.

In many nations around the world, people are becoming more addicted to crime stories on television and in books. People consume crime fiction because of its shock value; however, in my opinion, it has a detrimental effect on the society.

As humans we have an innate curiosity about crime. This is probably because crime is something that rarely happens to us and yet we hear about it all the time in newspapers and on television. This builds curiosity. We are eager to know the modus operandi of the criminals. We like suspense and twists. When we read crime fiction, we often assume ourselves to be the detective. We are eager to solve the crime. These stories cater to these needs of people; hence, we read or watch them.

In my opinion, crime fiction has both positive and negative aspects. It makes people aware of the dangers they face. At one point, I used to watch the series Crime Patrol on television. I found the stories gripping. On the other hand, exposure to crime stories may make people anxious about their safety. Excessive exposure can even make them depressed. Crime fiction influences potential criminals too. They can draw fresh criminal ideas from such stories and books. The overall effect is both positive and negative.

In summary, people enjoy crime fiction because they are intrigued by its suspenseful plots and gory details. In my opinion, this trend has both positive and negative effects. It makes people aware of the dangers they face but at the same time, it also gives ideas to those with criminal minds.
