In this contemporary era, due to advancements in technology, there is a change in the usage of modern devices or platforms. The trend of using distinct mobile applications for making online payments is growing in the society. This essay will discuss how the digital platforms are more advantageous than traditional methods of payments for people.
To commence with, it provides convenience to the society as people do not need to carry cash everywhere. In other words, users can make payment anywhere and anytime which in turn allow them to save time as there is no need to go to a specific place. By using these platforms, people can make payments such as electricity bill or water bills with a single click. For example, an article published by the Times of India mentioned that after the launch of a campaign by the Government of India, nearly 80% of the population in India uses the digital platforms to make their payments as they find it more time saving and hassle free.
Another good point to consider is that there is a detailed record of online payments which helps user to manage their budgets and to keep track of financial expenses. To expound, online platforms can calculate the monthly budgets and assist customers to set the upper limit for expenses. To illustrate, the very popular mobile app Paytm creates a track record of all the different types of expenses and permits a user to check a weekly, monthly or annual report and maintain the financial budget for an individual. So, obviously, there are several benefits to using digital payment apps.
On the other hand, safety can be an issue. If the phone is stolen, lost or hacked, the payment information saved on it can be misused. The ease of making digital payments may also encourage many people to spend money impulsively.
To conclude, there are more benefits than disadvantages to making payments via mobile apps. They are convenient and allow users to keep track of their spending. However, there is a small risk of the payment information getting misused if the phone is lost or hacked.
