Technology is flourishing by leaps and bounds and digitalization has become the norm these days. In this circumstance, paying for things using mobile phone apps is becoming more popular in many countries. In my opinion, there are more advantages than disadvantages to this development.
Mobile payment apps are gaining customers because they are more convenient. You can pay on the go. You do not have to share your bank details with the customer. They just need your phone number to pay you. This is convenient for both parties. You do not have to carry cash or your credit/debit cards. You only need the phone to make a payment and most people will have their phone with them all the time. Another advantage is that you have a record of every transaction you make. These apps also remind you about upcoming bills. They offer plenty of benefits like cash back offers and special discounts as well.
On the other hand, security is a major concern. If you save your payment details on the phone and you lose it, there is a very high risk of it getting misused. Someone who has access to your phone can even transfer all the money in your wallet without your knowledge. Of course, protecting the device with a password will eliminate this risk to a great extent. Another disadvantage is that it promotes impulsive buying. Because it is so convenient to make a payment, people often end up buying even those things they do not need.
To sum up, while it is true that there are some downsides to using online payment apps, they pale in comparison to the advantages. Mobile payment apps have simplified the process of making payment online. They also keep a record of every transaction we make and thus allow us to track our expenses more easily.
