Band 8 IELTS essay sample

The habit of smoking is rising these days. It has adverse effects not only on the health of active smokers but also on passive smokers. Owing to this, many governments have banned smoking in public areas and people have to go to designated areas to smoke. In my opinion, this is a good practice because it will prevent / stop people from smoking to some extent and also it will save others from the evils of passive smoking. The following paragraphs will provide an in-depth insight into the topic.

Smoking could be a choice for many people but the others who are around them also have to face hazardous health consequences when they inhale the smoke unknowingly. For instance, a study has shown that 60% of the passive smokers, who stay around the active smokers, suffer from severe diseases such as lung cancer and respiratory issues. Therefore, by restricting people from smoking at public places, other people will get benefited. Another point to consider is that when smoking is prohibited in public areas, people will feel embarrassed and this feeling of guilt will work as a deterrent.

Moreover, it would be inconvenient for them to step out of their houses or offices every time they feel like smoking. Although smoking is a hard habit to break this ban on public speaking will certainly force them to reduce smoking.

To conclude, smokers are aware of the disastrous consequences of smoking and in spite of this they smoke. Hence, the government has banned smoking in public places. This approach will certainly benefit passive smokers and will discourage smokers from smoking to some extent.

It is true that most of the countries bring a strict rule to avoid smoke in public places and considered it as illegal. If individual wants to smoke he/she has to move to the designated areas. This essay totally agrees with the notion, which is further discussed with valid reasons and suitable examples.
To embark upon, ‘’ Smoking is injurious to health’ is posted on every public places to give awareness about the poisonous effects it can cause to human. The main reason to prohibit in public places or work place is to protect the non- smokers from its side effects. It had been proven in different studies that nonsmokers have more side effects especially, in lungs, than a chain smoker who inhale the smoke of cigars. Moreover, it has an adverse effect on newborn babies and pregnant women.
The second reason, is the hindrance it can cause to regular smoking pattern. It is obviously difficult for a human to change any habit suddenly. By this law people at offices or public places have to move somewhere else when they want to smoke. In this scenario, the frequent smoker feels disruption or sometimes lazy to move out. So,he/ she may plummet the number of cigars. Gradually, the individual can reduce the count of cigars which he used to smoke regularly. For example, I personally know several persons who reduce the cigars, only to avoid walk until permitted area.
To recapitulate, I totally agree with the smoking law as it obstruct the smoking pattern of heavy smokers as well as save the life of nonsmokers from its harmful effects

Undoubtedly smoking is not good for health. Many people enjoy plus adore to smoke whereas on the other side some people can’t even tolerate the emitted smoke. Many countries have imposed a ban on public smoking and ask to build up special smoking zones. I completely agree with the new rule and will elaborate in subsequent paragraphs.

At the outset, smoking in public areas disturbs the surrounding population by smoke and ultimately makes them passive smokers. Such passive groups who stay around active smokers also face various health-related issues like lung cancer. Even the young ones also get infected by this. Hence, when smokers have to move to specific areas then it will provide relief to the remaining nonsmoking section of society.

Furthermore, stepping out of comfort zone to smoke
has indirectly helped the persons to reduce their per day count of cigarettes In a recent survey by health union department, it is shown that around 80% of people say that after the ban their daily count of cigarette consumptions has been fallen to half Eventually, it helps the smokers to improved their health and controls the habit of chain-smoking.

To conclude, it is well known that smoking is injurious to health whether it an active or passive smoker all have to suffer. The restriction on smoking in public areas like offices or
transportation mainly helps the section of society who were indirectly getting affected. We can say it is one of the commendable steps which every government should take for its countrymen.
