IELTS writing task 1 (letter)

The following question was asked on an IELTS writing test held in Australia in January 2012. This question is taken from www.ielts-blog.com

Write a letter to a friend who is looking for a part time job. Describe a job you have found for him/her. In your letter you have to say:

What are the duties?

Why do you think it is a good job for him/her?

What does he/she have to do to get it?

Model Answer

Hi Peter

I was delighted to find your letter in my mailbox. It has been several months since we saw each other. Glad to know that you are doing great. I am fine and busy with my studies.

In your letter didn’t you mention that you were looking for a part time job? Have you found any? If you haven’t yet, I think I have found a job for you. My neighbor is looking for a private tutor for his sons. He is willing to offer a good remuneration. The job involves teaching English, math and science to the boys who are studying in high school. I know you have previous experience in giving private tuitions. You will need to spend just two hours in the evening. I have already discussed this with him and he seems impressed with your educational qualifications. Let me if you are interested in accepting this offer and I will talk to him on your behalf.

By the way, how is everybody at home? Don’t forget to give my love to your parents and sister.
