IELTS Speaking Test Practice Questions

The following questions were asked in an IELTS Speaking test held in Bulgaria in July.

The IELTS speaking test takes about 15 minutes. It has three parts – an interview, a short speech and a discussion.

Interview

What is your name?
May I know what your full name is?
Are you working or studying?
Where are you from?
Do you think the city you are coming from is a good place to live in?
What do you like about your city?
Do you watch movies?
What kind of movies do you like to watch?
When you were a kid what kind of movies did you like to watch?
Can you draw or paint?
Did you like painting when you were a kid?

Speech

During the second part of the speaking test, you will be given a cue card with 3-4 questions. In one minute you have to prepare a speech that will answer all of those questions.

Cue Card

Talk about an activity that you do to keep yourself healthy. Your speech should state:

what this activity is
when you do it
where you do it
whether you would recommend this to others and why

Discussion

The topic for discussion was related to the topic for the speech.

he conservation of these animals?
Why do people like to watch animals on TV?
Why do children like to have toy animals?
