IELTS Speaking Part II | Describe a toy you used to play with as a child

Speaking part 2

Describe a toy that you used to play with as a child. Please say

– What was it?
– Who gave it to you and when?
– When and where did you use to play with it?

Sample response

I never had many toys. When I was a child, I used to create my own toys using household objects. I was also interested in Origami and painting. We were two boys – my brother and I. I was the younger. My brother was in a boarding school. The only toys that our parents bought for us were balls and building blocks. Of these toys the one that I absolutely loved was the Lego building blocks that my dad gifted me on my 8th day. It was great fun playing with those blocks and making various shapes and objects. I also enjoyed ball games, but as my brother was in the boarding I was alone most of the time. The Lego bricks kept me good company. The best thing about those bricks was that I could play with them alone. This helped me a lot. I used to play with those bricks whenever I felt bored. Of course, I soon outgrew them and dad bought me a more sophisticated set of bricks for my 9th birthday. I still have those bricks with me. I no longer play with them, but I love the memories attached to them.
