IELTS Model Questions

The following questions were asked in an IELTS test held in Australia.

Listening test
The listening test had four sections. The first section was about registering for an IT exhibition in Toronto, Canada. The second section was about a holiday resort in Queensland. In the third section of the listening tape, a student who had an accident was trying to get some advice on doing his school activities. The fourth section was about the relation between the agriculture and economic growth in Australia.

Reading test
Five passages were given for reading.

Passage 1: About the process of buying a new or used car in England.
Passage 2: A comparison of apartments advertised in newspapers
Passage 3: About the steps that should be taken to ensure safety at workplace
Passage 4: About the process or hiring new employees.
Passage 5: About the contribution of peppercorn to the medical science

Writing test
The first task was to write a letter.

Topic

Your friend is compiling an international food book. Write a letter to him / her about a dish you tried recently. In your letter you should say what the dish was and when you ate it. You should also suggest that your friend include a recipe of that dish in his/her book.

You can spend 20 minutes on this task. You should write at least 150 words.

The second task was to write an essay.

Topic

All high school students should be taught how to manage money because it is a skill necessary for succeeding in life. Do you agree or disagree?

You can spend 40 minutes on this task. You should write at least 250 words.

Why do you like that subject?
Do you think numbers are important in life?

What are the characteristics of a good leader?
