Band 6.5 IELTS essay sample
With the increasing industrialization, people have posed considerable threats to their habitats and other coexisting beings. While some claim that these damages are unchangeable, others contend that they can tackle these issues by immediate action. I believe while humans are incapable of resolving some of the devastating environmental problems, a majority of them could be solved by viable solutions.
On the one hand, the expansion of human accommodation has already threatened the ecosystem and this damage is irreversible. Animals used to live in forest which is now due to the deforestation is replaced by skyscrapers and buildings. They cannot find enough food supply and safe nest for their offspring, causing them to die out of them and an overpopulation of their prey. For example, Japanese birds used to live in Yangzi River, however, people embarked on building machinery and industries in their habitats, consequently, these birds became be extinct in 1972. Hence, it is undoubtedly true that some of the effects causes by human-being are unable to change.
On the other hand, I contend that individuals and government are able to tackle environmental issues through a number of methods. Firstly, government could legislate laws, using laws enforcements, companies or businesses have to think twice before they move their premises, leading to a conservation of nature. Secondly, media plays an imperative role in this action. they can address educational campaign and raise awareness of protecting environment. For example, individuals can gain greater understanding about the importance of surrounding, thus, everyone will unconsciously hold the responsibility of taking care their circumstance.
In conclusion, although there are a few hazardous issues we are not able to alter, coupled with authorities, it is never too late for citizens and leaders to shoulder responsibility to improve our living condition.
