According to some people, the government should prioritize public services instead of wasting money on arts and culture. I disagree with this view because the development of both sectors is equally important for a nation.
Public services are important because they have a crucial role in improving the living standards of people. For this reason, the government has to invest in healthcare, education and infrastructure. When people are healthy and educated they can contribute to the development of the nation. Likewise, good public infrastructure play an imperative role in achieving economic progress. So, obviously, the argument that the government should invest in public services certainly hold water.
On the other hand, the art sector is important too. It employs thousands of people and play a crucial role in enhancing the reputation of the country. Art is a reflection of culture. If it is properly promoted, it has the potential to attract more foreign visitors to the country. When more tourists arrive, it will give a boost to the hospitality industry and thus generate tens of thousands of more jobs. So, obviously, investing in art is not a waste of resources. Rather, it is a wise decision that not only enhances the reputation of the country but also attracts more foreign tourists.
In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that the government should invest in both arts and public services. Both sectors are important for the overall development of the country. Of course, public services should receive more funding, but that does not mean that the art sector should be neglected.
