Sometimes movie stars and famous personalities speak on public issues that are not much related to their field. In my opinion, this has a positive impact because they can send a message to a larger audience and bring attention to untold public issues.

When famous people express their views on various public issues, it is beneficial for the society because they can draw the attention of a wide population. Celebrities have a huge fan following and have millions of followers on social media. They can easily spread information to a large number of people all across the world and can provide help with public issues. When a celebrity promotes a public cause, it is always good for the society. However, when celebrities speak on public issues, it can have both good and bad effects. For example, when a celebrity comments on social, religious or political issues, they often create more problems than benefits. Remember they can even polarize the society with a careless remark. They can cause considerable damage to their image as well. For instance, actor Amir Khan is still feeling the heat for his intolerance remarks made many years ago.

Furthermore, it is beneficial when celebrities talk about issues affecting the society because their involvement draws public attention to the problem. Some issues are not well known and the government does not focus on them because they feel the common man is not aware of them. Charities and causes can be made more popular by celebrity involvement because they are famous and draw media attention wherever they go. For example, Princess Diana campaigned against land mines and brought enormous international attention to a problem which was largely forgotten / ignored.

In conclusion, I believe celebrities should speak about public problems as it can bring benefits because they have greater reach and can bring light to a less popular issue.
