Agriculture is considered as the foundation of every country; however, young people are not interested in choosing farming as their profession these days. This essay will closely look at the causes of this trend and will suggest possible remedies.

First and foremost, one of the reasons for the youngsters to show less interest in farming is the lack of awareness about the significance of this field. It is more likely that they hardly see anybody encouraging, supporting, or praising farmers for their hard work and achievements. Another reason is the emergence of technology and the influence it has created on people especially young people. They are more into technology based corporate jobs than farming or any blue-collar jobs. Moreover, white-collar jobs are considered as a symbol of social status nowadays. Needless to say, the financial stability that these corporate jobs offer certainly attracts youngsters towards them rather than farming.

Turning to the possible solutions, the government can take initiatives to create awareness among young people about the importance of farming for the very existence of mankind That means instead of teaching technology alone in schools or colleges, the schools should include lessons on agriculture and the detrimental impacts that the disappearance of farming would cause. Another possible solution is to enact rules to set a reasonable price for the crops. Apart from this, the government could come up with insurance schemes to cover the loses of crops if a natural calamity occurs. These would eventually make people choose farming over any other profession for the very existence of the mankind.

To conclude, the unawareness of the importance of farming is the significant reason behind the lack of interest towards it in young people and this could be overcome through education. Moreover, necessary enforcements must be taken to support farmers and their products.
