Band 8 IELTS Essay Sample

According to some people, during the hiring process the recruiter ought to look for the personal attributes of applicants instead of their experience and qualifications. I disagree with this viewpoint because a qualified candidate possesses the right skill set and insight which a non-qualified individual may lack despite having an amicable personality. Secondly, an experienced person could bring new technological advancement and has a lot to offer to the organisation. I will support my viewpoint in the subsequent paragraphs.

First and foremost, a well-qualified person possesses the right skill set and knowledge required to land a job. As this is a world of specialisation, recruiters prefer to find / appoint a person with numerous skills instead of interpersonal qualities. For instance, corporates tend to hire only those individuals who attained their degree in a specific field as they feel that the person could perform better than a less-qualified individual.

Furthermore, it is thought by some recruiters that an experienced candidate could give new technological progression to the organisation. All the methodologies and processes that an experienced employee brings with them help the firm to ameliorate their current business process to fetch more profits. For example, start-ups prefer to hire people who familiar with the business models of their competitors. Admittedly, people with pleasant personalities are good for handling clients. Personally I believe that personal attributes are crucial only in positions that require a lot of l interactions with the public. For back end jobs experience and academic qualifications are more important.

In conclusion, it is obvious that a degree-holder has the right skill sets and know-how to perform his duties better. Moreover, an experienced champ perhaps offers a new formula to maximize the company’s earnings. Amicable personality traits are certainly beneficial; however, they are never a substitute for academic qualifications or work experience.

Nowadays, employees’ personal characteristics play an important role on recruiting as well as their experience. There is a believe that employers should pay more attention to personalities than qualifications. In this essay the importance of employee’s personalities on company efficiency will be discussed.
In one hand having experience does not meant appropriate quality in doing special tasks. As an instance, I learnt Solidworks, an engineering software for parts 3d designing, by myself using electronic books while I have a certificate from a well-known academic center showed that I spend Matlab (an engineering software) classes. However, I can work better with Solidworks rather than Matlab. So, the employees’ enthusiasm in learning new skills is much more valuable than having experience.
On the other hand, the employees’ personalities can play significant role on the firm efficiency. Team work skills, calmness, stress management, making appropriate decisions, new environments compatibility, preciseness, intelligence and social skills all are important factors which affect the company outcome. As the results, today individuals’ personal characteristics is being assessed using special EQ test as well as their academic and work experiences.
To sum up, although academic and work experiences can exhibit the employee’s abilities but personal qualities and characteristics are more important and employers should pay more attention to their staff personalities rather than experience as the experience can be gain over time based on the employee’ effort but their personalities are unchangeable factors.

Information technology enables many people to do their work outside their workplace. Do the benefits of this mobility outweigh the disadvantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Technology has done tremendous development in the field of improving the working condition of employees in the workplace. Nowadays, advanced technologies like telecommuting, video conferencing and fast internet have made it possible for employees to do their work from home. This essay is an attempt to discuss the advantages of this positive development.
To begin with, there are numerous benefits of allowing the person to do their work from their home. Firstly, it can save a great deal of time and money which people usually spend to commute to their workplaces. A study conducted by Harvard University found that the majority of the people who live in metropolitan cities usually waste their approximately 3-4 hours daily on their travelling to their workplaces. Moreover, if a person can allow work from home, they can utilize their energy on work which they usually waste on travelling. Thus increases the productivity and utilization in the work.
Secondly, this phenomenon would be very beneficial for female employees who also have to look out their family and children apart from their work. They can easily manage their work and family at the same time especially the mothers of small children. Perhaps, this would reduce the attrition rate of the organization which often increases when female employees plan their babies.
Nevertheless, few people argued that people waste their office hours on other work like house chores and personal works because they have no managers to look over them physically. However, there are many technologies available nowadays, which can track the working hours of the employees.
To recapitulate, after analyzing the above scenario it is not very hard to come on a consensus that providing mobility in working outside their offices is the good development for the employees because it can save a great deal of money & time and employees can focus more towards their work.

Even though globalization affects the world’s economies in a positive way, its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss.
It is undeniable that globalization has shaped the globe in a much more effective way in terms of economic growth, it has some downsides too which cannot be overlooked. This essay will discuss about some of the negative repercussions associated with global integration.

Although, we have witnessed that the world has become more advanced, better connected and liberalized as part of globalization, however daily lives of people are become fast paced. Opening doors to the world has imposed a downward pressure on people to work and deliver better results. Unfortunately, these modern integrations have given birth to some of the health problems that were never heard in the past. For instance, issues like technological anxiety, obesity and depression are the results of high stress caused by globalization.

From sustainability and welfare’s point of view, many countries have neglected the impact of their policies as they climb the ladder of growth by opening doors to the world economy. The level of air quality is deteriorating day by day, animals are getting extinct and it is becoming claustrophobic to even breath in some of the major cities of the world. One such example is Beijing, where air quality index is sky rocketed since the government welcomed more industries as part of their new economic policy of free market.

In conclusion, although globalized world is more updated, people and environment are becoming scapegoats as part of the process. An underlining focus should be laid on sustainable development as part of globalization with minimum impact on flora and fauna.
