The given charts compare the amount of electricity produced in Australia and France in the year 1980 and 2000 using five different fuels. In Australia the major source of electricity was coal while nuclear power was not used for this purpose. Meanwhile in France, all the five fuel sources were utilized. In 1980 a total of 100 units of electricity were produced in Australia of which 50 units were from coal and 20 units each from natural gas and hydro power. Oil was used to produce the remaining 10 units. In 2000, of the total 170 units, 130 units were generated from coal and 36 units were from hydro power. France utilized the fuel sources almost evenly to produce 90 units of electrical power in 1980. However, the major source of electricity in 2000 was nuclear power (126 units of the total 180 units). Coal and oil produced 25 units each of electricity, whilst very few units were generated from natural gas and hydro power.
