Olympic games have always enjoyed considerable public interest. However, a large number of people claim that technological developments / inventions have adversely affected the genuine role of these games. I completely disagree with this viewpoint because many technological inventions have enhanced the performance of players and the roles of manufacturing companies and media.   

 To begin with, the Olympics are the most famous international athletic competitions which are organised to bring players of different nations on a single ground. This in turn enables them to exchange their cultures and traditions positively. Furthermore, it brings fame to the nation that hosts the event. Considering the impacts of technology, it has several positive effects on the game events. Firstly, trainers and players can effectively use technological equipment to optimise their training. Secondly, several sports equipment manufactures try new machines to build gears, equipment and other necessary tools for playing. Apart from this, recent technological advancements have helped media to give live coverage of matches across the transnational boundaries and attract a wider audience.

Having said that, some believe that technology has altered the main role of Olympic games. It is because many players have adopted the win-at-all-cost attitude that can earn them fame. For example, some of them consume supplements and use other unethical means to win the games / events. Moreover, players from rich backgrounds are more likely to purchase better sports equipment to improve their performance, but this is not possible for disadvantaged players. In this way, using advanced technological gadgets can widen the gap between the rich and the poor.

To conclude, although technology has some drawbacks in the world of international games, I believe the positive points have an edge over it.
