Band 8.5 IELTS letter sample

Dear Mr Brar

I am writing to bring it to your attention that the problem with the water heating system at our rented flat has not been fixed yet.  While it is true that you sent workmen last week, they could not fix it. Consequently, we don’t have hot water. Actually we haven’t had hot water for several weeks now. Worse still, the heating system has also stopped working. This has put us in real trouble.

As you can imagine it is not easy to do without hot water or heating in this harsh winter. Actually, some of my roommates have already fallen ill due to taking bath in cold water.

It looks like the heater we have cannot be repaired. If it had been repairable, the workmen should have been able to fix it. So I suggest that you buy another heating system for our flat. We will really appreciate it if you treat this as a priority. I am afraid we will have to move to another flat if the issue is not resolved at the earliest.

I look forward to seeing this fixed.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely

XYZ
