The line graph shows visits to and from the UK from 1979 to 1999. The bar chart shows most popular countries visited by the UK residents in 1999.
Band 7 report sample
The given line graph illustrates number of visitors arriving in United Kingdom and natives travelling abroad (both in millions) over a period between 1979 and 1999. Additionally, the bar chart depicts the countries which were frequently visited by the Brits in the year 1999.
Overall, there was an increase in both arrival of visitors as well as departure of UK residents over this phase of two decades. France was the favorite destination while Turkey was the least visited by the Great Britain people in 1999 .
In 1979, 10 million overseas residents made a trip to the UK while around 12 million UK people went abroad. From 1979 to 1985 there was a slight increase of tourists by around 2 million as against the foreign visits by natives which almost doubled .Thereafter in next 15 years the UK People travelling abroad rose dramatically to reach slightly above 50 million, around 5 times of 1979 valve. Similarly , the number of visitors received by UK increased steadily to reach nearly 3 times of its 1979 figures by the end of 1999 .
In the year 1999, approximately 11 million UK nationals traveled to their popular destination, France. The next favorite country Spain received around 9 million people holding British passport .The visits to the USA, Greece and Turkey were all below 5 million mark with Turkey least liked by residents of UK.
