Student’s report
The bar graph depicts the data of three American universities about the number of students who applied for various faculty areas such as biology, engineering, business, and social work between 1990 and 2010.
It is obviously clear from the graph that the student applications for engineering and biology showed a significant decrease in the given period. In contrast, the number of students who wish to study business and social work increased dramatically.
In 1990, 4000 students wanted to study engineering in these three universities, whereas the corresponding number for business studies was half of it (2000). Then, after ten years, application for engineering dropped to 2500 and continued the same downward trend during the next ten years and dropped to about 500. Moreover, applications for biology related courses were 3000 in 1990 and reduced to half of that in 2000 (1500), and again it reduced marginally and stood below 1000 in the year 2010
On the contrary, business studies become the most popular course of study in 2010 with 4000 application which was just 2000 before twenty years (in 1990). Meanwhile, application for social work steadily rose and almost doubled in these twenty year period from 1000 to 2000.
