Dear Sir,

My name is XXX. I am in the final year of my Bachelors’ programme in library science. The reason that I am writing this letter is that I would like to apply for the post of library assistant, which you advertised in the local newspaper yesterday.

While I was in higher secondary school, I was appointed as the class in-charge of library activities. I was responsible for reserving library seats for my class mates and monitoring the issue and return of books of each student. This was an opportunity that allowed me to acquire the skills required of a library assistant. Moreover, I am familiar with the departments of books and sections of a library.

I believe that this job could add more credit points to my practical assignment on library management. Additionally, it would be a source of income for me so that I can buy some of my course materials for the upcoming semester. I will very much appreciate an opportunity to further discuss the requirements of this job with you in person.
