Band 7.5 IELTS essay sample

The number of highly skilled professionals leaving their developing countries for better life and careers in the developed countries is rapidly increasing. Leaving a country for a good life and work opportunities is certainly their choice; however, because of this migration development of their country suffers. However, it is possible for governments of such developing and under developed countries to make a good environment for such professionals and discourage them from leaving.

The biggest issue arising due to such migration from poorer countries is the lack of skilled professionals in different professions. For instance, from India many doctors and engineers migrate to North American countries. Now, because of this a country with 1.3 billion population does not have enough experienced doctors and skilled engineers to cater to the needs of the medical and the industrial sectors. Moreover, the governments of developing countries spend a lot of money for the education of their countrymen and when they migrate for their better future, they deprive the country of the benefits which were expected from them.

While these problems seem to have no solutions, governments can make sure that expected benefits can be availed from these professionals before they migrate to other countries. For example, governments can ask them to sign a bond which requires them to serve their country for a certain number of years before they leave. In addition, governments need to make sure they develop a certain level of environment by developing the infrastructure, improving communities and reducing taxes. By taking these measures the governments can provide an environment similar to that in developed countries and discourage professionals from wanting to migrate.

To sum up, migration of skilled professionals affects the developing and under developed countries economically and reduces the development pace of different sectors; however, by providing better opportunities within the country, the governments can address this issue to a great extent.
