Band 8 IELTS letter sample

Dear Sir,

My name is Rashi Mehta. I reside opposite your hospital building. I am writing this letter to enquire about the advertisement published in the Times of India regarding volunteer work.

I personally feel I will be an ideal candidate, because I recently resigned from my full-time job to take a break from work. I have sufficient leisure time which I can use effectively helping people in need. In addition, I have worked in an old age home before therefore, I posses the required skills.

In my previous job as a volunteer, my duty was to give patients medicines on time and attend to their other needs such as providing them meals and assisting them to walk. I am comfortable performing any of the aforementioned tasks.

Since, I mostly work part-time from home on weekdays. I shall be available from Monday thru Friday between 2 pm between 5 pm. My son usually comes back from college by 6:30pm so I need to prepare him evening snacks before he arrives. I hope you find me suitable for this position.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely

    Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Raj Kumar and I am a local resident of Bangalore. I reside in the BML apartment which is opposite to your hospital. I am writing this letter to express my sincere interest towards a volunteer work that was advertised recently in the Bangalore times.

I am currently on my college holidays and awaiting for my MBA results of last semester. I was hoping to participate in any social service activities and fortunately I came across about your hospital advertisement.

In particular, I am interested for the duty of providing medicines and food on time to the regular patients as I hold this experience before in my hometown’s local clinic.

As I am on my vacation and available for full-time from tomorrow till the end of this month. I hope this finds your requirement.

Looking forward to receive your response

    Yours faithfully,
    Rajkumar Rao

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I am a resident of Model town area and, I am writing to volunteer myself to serve patients at your hospital. Yesterday, I came across an advertisement in a local newspaper that your hospital is in search of people who are willing to perform unpaid community work.

There are mainly two reasons why I have to opt for it. First, I want to make this world a better place to live; thus, I do not want to lose this opportunity to work for the community. Second, I am a medical student and, I am aware of various medicines and, I can guide them regarding hygiene as well as sanitary. Therefore, I might be helpful with the role of a nurse.

By the end of this week, I will be available for the volunteer work because on Saturday I am taking my last exam of graduation. Kindly suggest me the timing as per the demand in hospital.

I am looking forward to your response.

    Yours faithfully,
    Balraj Singh
