Band 8 IELTS letter sample

Dear all,

I am writing this to bring your kind attention to the recent parking issue which we all have started facing because of the unorganized parking ways/methods of some of us.

We all are aware that each apartment is allotted a specific parking space but due to the recent increase in the number of vehicles we are now facing a parking space crunch. Moreover, recently there is an increase in the number of visitors who bring their own vehicles with them and this further adds to our parking problem / woes. This leads to non-availability of parking space to permanent residents.

We need to bring an end to this problem; therefore, I suggest that everyone park at their own allotted space only and if there are any guests) coming then we should ask them to park at the space available outside the locality.

I would still like to propose a meeting preferably this Sunday on this issue at the community center. It would be great if one senior member from each house can be a part of it as only a mutual understanding can bring an end to this problem.

Yours Truly,

Arib Khan

Hi Manjusha, Could you kindly rate my letter?
    Background Info:
You need a translation of a document into a different language and you have a friend who speaks that language.
    Bullet points:
1)Explain what the document is and why you need a transition
2)Explain why this is urgent and important to you
3)Ask your friend if and when he/she will be able to help ou
    My answer:

    Hey David,
Long time, no see; hope you’re well. I just wanted to write a quick letter to tell you that I must have some documents translated. Well, I guess you could probably do that

My documents(my problems right now) are related to university applications. They represent that I have achieved a lot of honours and I find them really useful to get accpeted. But the trouble starts therein, it’s in English and It must get inteerpreted into Spanish.

I need apparently put emphasis on the urgency of the transition since it is due to be submitted within 15 days, or I will lose the chance of getting bursary(perhaps acceptance).

i’m feeling a little bit hesitated to ask, but could you please be able to make it for me? If possible in 2 days? Please let me know whether you will help me out or not

I can’t wait to receive the response!

    Best Regards,
    John

Dear Manjusha, Could you rate this letter
    Background info:
You bought a ticket to a music concert. However, you are unable to go, so you decide to offer your ticket to a friend.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:
1)tell your friend the details about the concert
2)explain why you are unable to go
3)explain how your friend can get the tickket
    Dear Sam,
I hope you’re well. I’m just writing to inform you that I have an extra ticket and I’d like you to go to the concert with my family as I have several problems to offset.
What is my excuse? If you can remember, Eminem(famous rapper) was intending to visit the capital of our country. Apparently, it’s going to take place in Tashkent and the audience is expected to crowded. It is right after 2 days!
Though I was planning to go, all of a sudden my boss told me to stay at work and meet the foreign shareholders of the company. Besides, even if I put off the meeting and go to the concert, I think I won’t definitely be able to come back to work on time; it is probably going to be messed up.
Do you consider this to be okay? If so, perhaps I will send the ticket via the international postal service. If could suggest other avenues, please let me know.
If you don’t mind going, you should of course warn me, it is going to be a great pleasure!
    Hope to see you then!

Dear Manjusha, Could you please rate my letter??
    Background info:
A work colleague(or a student friend) has applied for a new job, and he/she asked you write a reference letter to the new employer.
Write a letter to the employer to recommend your colleague/friend.
    In your letter:
1)state your reason for writing and say how you know the applicant
2)describe your colleague/friend’s relevant qualifications and skills
3)explain why you are recommending this person for the job

    Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to recommend David James as a web developer in your company. Having studied Bachelor’s degree in web developing and gone hand in hand for the last 2 years, I am delighted to present him to you.

In order to avoid sowing doubts, i prefer to show off his skills and qualifications that are right for your company. To be honest, he is far more superior to other web employees; he is considered a full stack and knows more than 5 programming languages. When it comes to the degrees, he graduated from MIT.
I regard this corporation as the successful collaboration and as a pathway for both sides because you have just turned to running a giant company and this company seems to include innovations and technologies; this creates a platform to share ideas over time for both sides.

I genuinely appreciate your consideration in this matter.

    Yours faithfully,

    Zuhriddin
